Last fall, Azimut Yachts introduced the Magellano 50, a semi-displacement model and one of the first yacht offered with hybrid engine technology. This is provided by the Easy Hybrid system, composed of twin 23-kW electric motors mounted between the drive train and the propulsion system.  These motors, which use a lithium-ion battery pack, are paired with two Cummins Mercruiser 5.9-litre diesel engines with 425 hp each. This system allows the boat to cruise at speeds of up to eight knots while just using its electric motors, thus reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

First model destined for the North American market sold in Quebec
Azimut’s Canadian distributor, Nautique International, headquartered at the Montreal Yacht Club, has already sold the first hybrid-engine unit destined for the North American market. The buyer is a Quebec resident.

Since it was introduced last autumn, the Magellano 50 has won several prizes, including “European Power Boat of the Year.” Read our overview of this model.
