The curtain has just come down on 70th edition of the Miami Boat Show, where all kinds of exciting new products were on display Here’s a summary of what caught our eye this year:

Mercury Racing 1100
First off, engine builder Mercruiser unveiled its latest high-performance engine, the new 1100. Designed entirely by Mercury Racing, this turbocharged 9.0-litre V8 pumps out 1100 horsepower and the same amount of torque.

2011 Monterey 328SS
Monterey jumped on the occasion to show off the all-new 2011 328SS, which strikes a balance between sport performance and luxury. At just over 32 feet long (counting the swimming platform) and 9’8″ wide, it combines the advantages and roominess of a bigger boat with the versatility of an open-deck boat. It features a modern style and spacious cockpit, but the real plus is the full bathroom and bedroom that sleeps two adults. This sets it apart from classic open-deck models.

2011 Sea Ray 450 Sedan
As for Sea Ray, their 2011 450 Sedan caught our attention. In fact, you can read our complete article on this new model by clicking here.

2011 Rinker Captiva 216
The 2011 Captiva 216 rejuvenates the Rinker name as it features the company’s redesigned lines. Not only is this boat affordable, but it delivers improved ergonomy and style. Priced just over $32,000 and powered by a 5.0-litre Mercruiser V8, the Captiva 216 is a great deal.

2011 Regal 350 Sport Coupe
Recently unveiled at the New York Boat Show, the Regal 350 Sport Coupe has stolen the spotlight at Regal. As the fourth model in a series of hardtop sport cruisers, it has all the characteristics of a yacht in a more compact size. With its single-level cockpit, which can be heated or air-conditioned, the Regal 350 Sport Coupe lets owners control their environment or enjoy the wind and sun by opening the retractable roof with electronic control. The interior was designed to maximize space, and the cabin comes with a complete bathroom. Several Volvo and Mercruiser gas engines are available for this boat. Opting for Volvo means you can have a diesel engine and a joystick control system that facilitates docking manoeuvres.

2011 Chaparral 327
This year, Chaparral presents the 327, an open deck model that is very similar to the Monterey 328SS. The Chaparral 327, however, is notable for its full beam cabin, made possible by the raised passage leading to the front bridge. This boat offers exceptional style and attention to detail.

2011 Yamaha VXR
In the personal watercraft department, Yamaha comes to Miami with the 2011 VXR, the most powerful model in its line. Its bold lines are enhanced with vibrant colours and graphics. The VXR, featuring a NanoXcel hull and deck, is driven by a turbocharged 1812 cc super high output (SHO) engine.

2011 Carver 44 Sojourn
Carver has reinvented itself this year. Not only has it adopted a new philosophy and logo, but its line-up of recent models marks a radical break from previous Carver products. For 2011, this manufacturer offers up the new 44 Sojourn, a revamped version of a model that’s been on the market since 2008. Based on the same hull, it sets itself apart with modern, fluid lines and bigger side windows. Plus, it not only comes with a plethora of engine options, but you also get to choose from a wide variety of hull colours.

Four Winns V305
Four Winns served up the new V305, a sport cruiser with more classic lines and a hard top. Positioning the kitchenette at the back of the cockpit frees up quite a bit of space in the cabin. Plus, there’s something nice about being able to cook outside, rather than in the cabin. Innovative ergonomics are definitely one of the V305 strengths.

Finally, visitors had the chance to admire the 2011 541 Sedan Bridge, the biggest model offered, the new Hunter e36, while Formula presented the 2011 310 FX5, the latest model in the FX series.
